So, I’ve had this idea of making a coffee table completely out of coffee. Not just the top but the legs, frame and all. I contacted a local coffee shop in town and asked them to save me their used coffee grinds. They agreed and in one day they had a 5 gal bucket filled to the top. I started to do some drawing on sketchup of a basic coffee table, trying my best to keep it simple. Then I did my research on epoxy and volumes and ordered the right amount. If you watch the video I had a little mishap and had to order more…..oops. I made all the molds I needed to construct the legs, aprons, skirts and top. I used Melamine with caulking and mold release. I have to say the parts turned out pretty good and constructing the frame with mortise and tenons worked out prefect. After everything had cured and was sanded down to 2000grit, the table was then polished. I used epoxy again to put it together and I think it turned out real nice. It was an adventure with epoxy that I have zero experience with, I like to challenge myself like this ,cause you end up learning a few new things.
